It's easy to tell that there was a definitely passion for fighting games put into making this. The character stories and varied play styles are classic, and the controls, while simple, make a real effort to do a lot with little. Like I said in class, it would be good to exaggerate the animations to make the player really feel the impact of blows (and make it more readable). The characters can blend in to the background, especially since the background art is so busy. Super cool game, hope to see its wrinkles ironed out.
George Gonzalez:
I like that you created a variety of enemies and themes related to them to create a vague story for each character. The next step i believe would be to optimize and balance the characters just because some moves overpower others in an unfair way. but overall great game.
Roger Li:
I like the wide variety of themes and enemies/skills of this game, and the sprite and art are all extremely well made. However sometimes it is confusing as to what each power does, and the lack of feedback on some levels can be confusing for the player.
Sergey: The game looks really good, has a lot of improvements from last version. I liked the character bios, it is informative enough. It's also really cool that we start using AI for art generation. Keep up the good work.
This game definitely works cohesively and has a lot of features for the player to experience and play through. Additions like the stats/ bios for different characters and the map to navigate and select through the different scenes are really great for the player experience. I like the various backgrounds across the different fights and feel that it fits in well. I also like the icons and colors used for buttons and health. One possible revision is to allow the player to choose any map they want and any units they want. Stun-lock with combos would also be nice as a mechanic.
Everything about the sprites and UI looks fantastic! The animations for the player and characters look meticulously well-made and given great attention to detail. I really like how the arenas are independent in terms of opponent and storyline yet they all connect well with each other. There are a lot of scenarios you can add and build upon here, great job!
Anna Teng: Wow I think this game is amazing! Especially considering that this was a 4 week project! I love the art style and the idea of having different characters each with their own abilities and play style. There is currently a lot to this game already and it’s really fun to play and see all the differences abilities. As others have mentioned, I think allowing players to unlock certain areas or certain cosmetic items will be great, but the game currently is already super wonderful!
Remi Vaughan: The scope of this game is really incredible, lots of variety in terms of how to play and what opponents you fight. Really creative with all the characters, but also all the stages and the map selection view. That said, I'd consider changing up the UI; the buttons on the side might be easily pressed during gameplay, which could be frustrating - maybe put them in a pause menu? Also I'd consider trying to ditch the virtual joypad altogether since it covers so much of the action. I'm not sure how you'd do this while sticking to mobile though... maybe this game would feel better on computer/console? Give lots of things a try, because you have a really good game here.
Shaur Kumar: I love the idea of this game, as a huge fighting game player myself. Some general comments I have regard mostly game feel, specifically in how hitting an enemy, whiffing and damage works. I feel the attack animations are too fast and are always cancellable, which to me fights against the intention of a fighting game. Adding startup and endlag to all moves would help a lot with this, with attacks being able to cancel endlag into your special "A" move if you hit. Whiffing should always have endlag -- this prevents mashing a really good button over and over again to cheese fights (or allowing the AI to do the same to you). Otherwise, the ability to choose characters and unlock them between stages, or a more traditional "classic" mode with a different layout of stages for each character would really take this game next level.
Chenny Yun: The UI looks fantastic. Having to create the sprites and implement the abilities of so many different characters is a feat in it of itself! I love how every level has an entirely different look, and helps the game stay fresh and exciting. The game balancing was also really nice. I felt like most of characters were balanced and fairly intuitive. Overall, fantastic game!
Ashley Liu: Very cool game and the amount of different attack styles are impressive. I love the storylines but I think it's sometimes hard to tell when the enemy is taking damage. It might be cool to add a screen shake when the player uses their ult..
Justin Rivera: The animations (and sprites overall) are really well done, especially considering how much time we have to create this game. I really like how you introduce the player to all the concepts in the game. The help popups and the character bios do a good job of guiding the player. Overall, all of the effort put in really shows!
Yilin Zhao: This game is just great! Look at those well made scenes, characters and animations! Even though it's a fighting game, I still find it relaxing most of the time and simply can't stop laughing when seeing those funny attacking effects (the dollar and the word). In the future, maybe you can consider creating a larger world, allow the player to update their fighting skillsets when reaching higher levels, and provide various fighting effects for the player to choose from in each scene. Again, this is a polished game with many potentials. Great job!
ahhhh the art of the game is so goooooddddd ! the theme reminds me of retro arcade games and its super nice
i think there is a lot of potential in this game! i feel like u could totally employ a XP or coin system and have players buy or unlock different modes/maps as well as characters and skins.
Shangyu:
I really enjoy the quirky theme of this game, with gameplay similar to that of "King of Fighters," but with its own unique twist on game mechanics. The attention to detail is impressive, with each character having their own unique moves and abilities that require strategic thinking to master. Additionally, the main interface of the game is visually appealing, with a well-designed layout that is both intuitive and easy to navigate.
Nathan Cantu: I really like the world that you created and all the characters in it. I really like that the boss' attacks are by hurling insults at you. I would say that my main problem was that I think you should have a screen or victory scene after defeating your opponent because I got confused on if I won or if the game glitched out. So my suggestion would be to do that and then when you lose you can just go to the main area instead of going to a game over screen or you could show the player collapsing on the floor. John Cena actually seems underpowered for his fight. Overall the game is fun and the atmosphere is great so good job
Jack Liu: It is such a great game. I feel you guys can really publish it on the application store and people will be willing to download it. The background of each scene is really beautiful and detailed. And the animations of different characters are also nice, And players actually jump around and use skills to beat the opponent which is really fun. And the muscle guy is a bonous to this game with the interesting ice cream attack effect. Overall, this game brings a lot of surprises to players.
A fighter game is not easy to make because you need to create many sprites, make animations for each of the characters, and balancing each of the characters. You guys did a great work in the Arts, Balancing, and gameplay. I really like the layout of the entire game and its storyline as well. One thing to notes is that it is a little bit confusing about the ice cream effects from one of your characters. The ice cream effects was so good so I think it must be a very powerful spell that deal a lot of dmg to the enemies, but it seems that it does not really do a lot of dmg. I am not really sure if you guys make this on purpose as a design choice to surprise the player. To sum up, I really like this game, and you guys have put a lot of efforts into this game. Great Job!
I can tell a lot of effort was put into this game. Great job creating multiple characters and implementing different types of attacks and animations. At first, I was a bit confused about what the "A" button stood for. Maybe renaming it to "U" for "Ultimate Attack" would help, but that's a minor thing.
Yuxuan Lin (Kerwin): The mix of humor and unique attacks adds a fresh twist to the classic fighting genre. The character design and animation are definitely a highlight, showing off a lot of personality and creativity. While the controls could be improved for a smoother experience, and the background might need a bit of adjustment to better match the overall style, it doesn't take away from the fun. This game has a lot of potential, and I'm excited to see how it evolves.
Nishma: This game is really different and I love the aesthetics of it, like the backgrounds and the sprites and everything. It was kind of funny when I saw the word attacks lol, and I like how there's like mulitple characters in this game that get turns to be both the player and the enemy. I think with the controls it would be nice to move the player by tapping/holding the screen instead of tapping arrows, but that's just like a personal preference. I really liked the game and the concept!
Funny and innovative. I like the uniqueness of all the attacks and can see the integration of some aspects of other games which is cool. Controls feed a bit awkwardly placed at times. Also the backgrounds feel a bit out of place and are much more detailed than the rest of the game which can be off-putting. Cool nonetheless.
Christ: Tbh, this game reminds me of similar battling game like “The King of Fighter”, which those two games are fighting each other and win the game tho. I love the characters, buttons, and health bar. They are all detailed and stylish that I would like to spend more time to play with it. On the other hand, fighting game made players competitive and aggressive but it's fine ;) One thing I would like to mention is the animation because different character animates differently and they are really interesting. Really great work!!!!
